The dreaded “B” word is enough to make most roll their eyes in exasperation. Many say personal budgets are “too restrictive,” or “don’t work” because they’re too hard to stick to. If you’ve ever felt this way about creating and sticking to a budget, you’ve probably been doing it wrong. In truth, a budget is simply a plan for HOW to spend/save/invest your money and when we approach our money without a plan, we are setting ourselves up for failure.

A budget should help guide you on purchasing decisions and redirect your focus to the goals you have in place. Your budget will tell a story of what you’re doing right, and what you need to adjust moving forward. It is simply a tool for you to maximize each paycheck and find balance between your financial obligations, saving for your future, and having fun in the present. And we all know that first responders NEED to have fun with their money.

In this presentation, you’ll learn how to bulletproof your budget with these five steps:

  1. Creating Your Budget Structure
  2. Frequency & Projection
  3. What Are You Saving For?
  4. Recognizing & Overcoming Spending Pitfalls
  5. How to Prioritize FUN
